What’s In My Bag: Beware of Gnomes

A couple of days ago Miss Cristina inquired of the internet: What is in your bag? Below, slightly delayed, is my answer. Warning: contains hockey gnomes.

The bag, which is my every-day bag, is by Tignanello; I acquired it a couple of weeks ago at Macy’s (on sale, as well!) and I love it.

It’s a replacement/upgrade piece – my previous every-day bag is a (possible knockoff) Jansport that I snagged somewhere on 14th street, several years ago now.

The Jansport was (is) fine as bags go, and has served me well, but I kind of wanted something a little less middle-school. That said, I’ll probably still use it for certain things, like, say, music festivals, where I don’t want to get the Tignanello all grubby.

So here is what is in my bag, as of right now:

Contents of bag:

1 small Boston Bruins gnome, FansEdge via Amazon.com

1 small New York Rangers gnome, CollectAndSave via Amazon.com

Mayflower, by Nathaniel Philbrick, with package-slip bookmark from the Post Office.

1 mini (6 inch) umbrella, from Duane Reade

Wallet (black leather with silver metallic accents, used to have a chain but that got lost; origins lost in mists of time, aka I bought that at either Hallowmas or a Convergence over a decade ago)

Toothbrush, mini-tube of Colgate toothpaste, mini-tub of floss (from dental visit last week)

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, packet of Oreos, packet of pretzels (lunch leftovers that I just ate for dinner)

Assorted bits of paper: Dolly Parton ticket (Hollywood Bowl, two weeks ago) and receipts for: Dunkin’ Donuts (Edgewater, NJ); In-N-Out (Hollywood); Foodtown (Harlem); NJ Transit; and Echo Park Time Travel Mart (California).
